well about a week ago i couldnt sleep so a girl at my work gave me half of a xanax. so today i had a job interview and i got the gob but then they made me take a urine sample. will it show up??? i heard it only last 2-3 days in ur system and its been a week. can someone help please i really want this job!

Xanax is not illegal. If it does show up, you should have the right to explain why it is in you system.

Here's the thing - elimination of substances is nonlinear, and kind of different for everyone.I don't know what the minimum amount is for something like Xanax to show up on a drug test, even assuming they're checking for legal pharmaceuticals.According to rxlist.com, the"half-life"of Xanax (the average amount of time it takes for the substance levels to decline from peak concentration to half that level) is 11 hours, ranging from 6-27 hours. So most of it should be out of your system by now.

Chances are you'll be fine. I do wish you'd phrased the question differently, though. Drugs don't sit there for a specified period of time and then miraculously disappear. They're metabolized and excreted at different rates and using different kinetics, and the urine drug screens have different levels of sensitivities, but none involve miracles.

Don't ever take someone else's medication. You could have had an allergic reaction to it. It is against the law for someone to give a narcotic to another person without the approval of a physician. Your friend could have gotten in serious trouble and so could you. Xanax is powerful and addictive. Take better care of yourself.
