At first I used it to sleep, which helped, now I'm constantly depressed. I can't enroll for work insurance until February, so I feel that I'm stuck. Am I just depressed, or is the Xanax making it worse? I'm a 36 yr old male who now cries at the drop of a hat and have never been like this until now. Guess I answered my own question.

Well your life is sucking right now and I'm sorry for you. Chances are it's not a side effect from the xanax; however, depression is linked to the drug too. I've been on xanax for PTSD for 2 years and it hasn't made me depressed. I just think your going through a really rough time right now and that's why your so down. I'm sorry you have to go through this. I really feel for you.

careful on xanax it can cause paranoia and memory lapses. If it's not prescribed to you maybe you should lay off.

Here is a basic truth. If your doctor hasn't prescribe a medicine for you to take, D O N'T take it.There is a reason that some drugs are only distributed by prescription. You may be doing more harm than good.cheers.

I take Xanax, been taking it for 7 years now, I take it for Anxiety/ Nerves/ Depression/ I cant go with out it. good luck.I also drink relazing teas( lavender)

Xanax is a highly controlled substance. You should only take it with doctor supervision. The depression is from the separation.
