I had a broken wisdom tooth yanked, and there is some swelling and infamation. The Vicodin does not help that. It's been 4 days. I'm thinking the doc gave me a pretty healthy injury when he pulled it.Thanks.

umm i wouldn't sugest it but im not a doctor i would call the dentist or a pharmecy like walgreens and ask them.

I take Vicodin and Excedrin (max) for Rheumatoid Arthritis.I recently learned that there is Tylenol in Vicodin and excedrin and I was over dosing every day. (vomiting)Try the Ibuprofen every four hours for one day and see if that kills the pain. It will help reduce the swelling and inflammation. Then add a Vicodin 6 hours apart.if needed.Use Hydrogen Peroxide swishing your mouth and brush very gently to work in into the gums. It KILLS PAIN AND HEALS extremely well. It will solve most all pain involved gum problems. Do this (just swishing) as needed through the day.That should help with the pain very quickly.Good Luck.

Yes, they are not contraindicated. Do not, however, take it with Tylenol. One of the components of Vicodin is Tylenol, so you will exceed the daily max dose.Addendum: Queen, you have no idea what you are talking about. First Vicodin is not JUST acetaminophen or it would be sold over the counter. It is a combination of acetaminophen and hydrocodone. Non-medical professionals should not try to give medical advice. It is standard practice to prescribe BOTH Tylenol and Ibuprofen in alternating doses often times, even in children. AGAIN, they are NOT contraindicated, it is perfectly safe to take them together as long as you do not exceed the prescribed doses. And if you would like to know, the daily max dose for Tylenol is 15 mg/kg/dose which can be taken every 4-6 hours and for Ibuprofen 10 mg/kg/dose every 6-8 hours.

NO!! vicodin is acetominophen, or panadeine. Both ibuprofen and acetominophen are broken down in the liver by the same enzyme, which means if you take both you may not have enough enzyme to break it all down, which could result in overdose, it would be the same as taking a double dose of ibuprofen. (the enzyme system is cytochrome p450, in case you're interested) If you have already taken it, I suggest you call the emergency at your local hospital to check if the amount taken is too high, this is important as it is a fairly dangerous drug to overdose on. it you are still in pain talk to a doctor or dentist and they can give you a prescription for codeine or a similar drug. take care.

Dentists are also doctors. If they had wanted you to add more meds. with your prescription they would have told you. Don't take more meds. than have been prescribed. That is abuse and a chance of over dose. Be very careful and always follow the doctors orders. Call him, maybe he can give you something stronger.

I suggest you ring a drug and information help line that can advise you what drugs you can and cannot take together. It is too dangerous to expect people off the internet to give you medical advice about your health.You really should contact your dentist or go back to the hospital clinic where you went to for advice or someone who has your medical history. Apart from the effects of mixing drugs in your body their is the other aspect which is that you might have certain allergies to something in the drugs and stuff like that.A little bit of agony might end up being a whole lot worse if you mess with drugs that you dont know the effects. Oh yes and dont mix alcohol with drugs either!
