Default Taking vicodin for wisdom teeth pain. How much is too much? - 01-04-2009, 09:46 AM

i was prescribed vicodin to take 1-2 pills every 4 hours. So i started by taking one pill, and 4 hours later i was still in a good deal of pain . So then I took 2 pills once the time was up, and it worked like a charm. it made me a little sleepy, and the pain was completely absent. I plan on taking another 2 pills in a little while, but am worried its too much. Will i get addicted? Will I become immune?

You won't become addicted or tollerant unless you continue the medication for weeks. If you are haveing ongoing pain this is not a good drug to take. Ask your doctor about NSAIDS (anti-inflammatory medications) like Motrin, as they are a better choice for longer use of pain pills.

Use only as the Doctor prescribed and no more. You will be ok.

Two at a time is fine. When I had an ear infection I was given codeine and I was to take two at once. Once the bottle was up my infection was gone and so was my need for codeine.
