Vicodin (generic hydrocodone--a relative of codeine--plus acetaminophin) is rated"B"for safety during pregnancy. That is the second-safest category out of 5. Either there is evidence that it is not problematic in animals and no human studies, or there is research that shows a problem in animals, but *not* in people. Hydrocodone is considered safer (by FDA rating) for a pregnant woman than codeine (codeine is a category"C").In any case, I would suggest talking to your doctor. There may be specific reasons that you shouldn't be taking the drug (or shouldn't have upped the dose) while pregnant, and there may be an alternative treatment.
