Default I take valiums regularly to fight my insomia. Am I considered as a drug addict? - 05-25-2010, 04:52 AM

I have a sleeping sickness called insomnia. It's hard for me to fall asleep during night-time but I feel sleepy and lethargic during daytime. My friend told me about Valiums. He said that it can help my sleeping problems. I gave it a try and it worked for me. Now, I found myself relying on Valiums to achieve that well-deserved good sleep. Am I addicted to it?

can you go without them?
or
do you simply rely on them but will be fine if you stop?

there is a diff between addicted and depend ant

also, see a dc tr and address your concern

Yes. If you feel you can't normally function without them or have adverse reactions when you try not to take them, you are addicted.

The following is more of a checklist to see if your addiction is problematic:

Yes it is, do something different even if it's not sleep for awhile.

Some may call you a drug addict for self-medicating. If so then go to a doctor and have him prescribe it to you. But who's paying for your health care? The government? nope. Why should you need their approval to take something that helps you sleep at night? Try something different like Unisom. Its a powerful over-the-counter sleeping aid, they work pretty well I used to take them.

Maybe. Depends on if you need it or just like to use it. You should be seeing a doctor about your insomnia. I take Manx nightly to help me sleep.

After trying it for the first time, you immediately welcomed the fact that it's good for you. You took it regularly in order to sleep well. The thing is, how much are you Valiums have you been consuming? If you've been taking in more than you should, then you're an addict. I think you're drug dependent. You can't sleep without Valiums right? Do you feel anxious a lot? Tensed? Trembling? Fatigued? If your answers to these questions are all "yes", then you're addicted to Valiums. See a doctor. Seek help from a professional. I'm not saying that you shouldn't ask help from your friend but I think it's always best to consult the experts. I've posted some links about Valiums and Valium addiction. Feel free to read them and decide for yourself.

Yes, you are addicted to Valium. That's a BAD one to be addicted to, because you're going to need more and more. Get to your doctor, wean yourself off of the Valium very slowly (with your doctor's help,) and start taking ELAVIL. 200 Mg's. at night, and possibly a small dose of Klonopin. That will put you to sleep, and you won't need more and more. And you won't feel sleepy and lethargic during the day. You'll feel rested and great.

I know a lot about insomnia. You also might want to get on a "circadian schedule." Talk to your doctor about it. This is like fate that I got your question today. I started in Men's Health, which I've NEVER done, and it led me to your question. Believe me, sweetie, that I'm helping you. Do what I suggested. If you don't, you'll be in big trouble. -LL

i wouldn't call you an addict. I am taking Prozac for depression and it's not like I am an addict to an antidepressant because of that. I take Tylenol simply sleep every week night to be sure i can fall asleep on time. My doc offered to give me ambient which I am gonna get soon. If you are finding your body cannot sleep without the Valium...then you should talk to your doctor about this.
