Default How to take 10 mg valium without becoming addicted? - 12-05-2009, 03:44 AM

I won't go into a lot of details but my wife is in the late stages of terminal cancer, I'm her caretaker and I don't have a soul to rely on since we moved to a new state last year.

I'm 52, suffer from great back pain and I have a hernia and I have to lift and move her since she is now immobile. Valium gives me great relief in terms of stress and pain.

I told the doctor that I found down here and he gave me cymbal ta which made me sick and suicidal. It was a nightmare to quit. He lied (or he's incompetent) when he said it would help me with pain and stress and that I could quit it anytime with no problem.

I have a supply of Valium from years ago. The problem is I don't want to become addicted. Should I take a 'vacation' every week from the taking one 10 mg a day? How long a vacation should I take? I'm scared of this stuff but I can't go to a new doctor or anywhere else since I can't take my wife (car rides are too painful to her) or leave her home alone. Im all messed up and suffering in many ways here.

Is there a safe way to take this stuff? I'd like to take one 10 mg a day and flush the rest when the time comes.

Any help would be appreciated.

i would call your local pharmacist and tell them what you said here, I think you would be fine with the 10 mg of Valium on a daily basis, but I may split it in half, and split the dose, like 5 mg in the morning and 5 mg later in the day. I wish you well and I am sorry about your wife.

Well, the dose and how long you take it for affects the risk of becoming addicted. The less you take, the less the risk. Also, when you do stop using it, you should do slow and gradual dose reduction, because a sudden stop can send you into with drawl.
I took Valium too, but not every day, just on occasion when needed, and it was a 5mg tablet. I personally never liked the stuff, but I'm young and hate most medicines...

Hey,sounds like you're busy.Hang in there.
I would take them as needed as opposed
to every day.
Try 5 Mg's. instead of 10.
Take a break when you can.
All that stress that is on you and you still
reached out,good man.
It seems you know something about banzais',
just be careful.
I don't know if depend ant is the same as addicted.
You are probably more prone to being emotionally depend ant on the Vs'
Ask a doctor for the med in the V family that has a shorter half life they might be easier to stop.
I really don't have an answer,I just seem to have a little knowledge on the subject.Good Luck.
