Default Is there a support group for wives of sex addicts? - 05-26-2010, 01:02 AM

My husband is addicted to porn and I recently found posts he has sent to other women. Yes, I've tried everything to try and please him! I'm looking for a lawyer now and want to talk to a support group if there is such a group in my area.

I love it when people use "I have an addiction" to cop a plea for acting like an insensitive jerk. I highly doubt your husband has a "sex addiction" for if he did, he'd literally be screwing women left and right. Your husband is just a self-centered egotistical jerk who needs to plug pulled on his computer once and for all and a swift kick in the @SS.

Happy, don't judge or comment on things you don't know. You know nothing about me or my life. Everyone has their so-called "additions" when it's just a cop-out for them to not be responsible for their own actions. Oh, and by the way, "true recovery" from anything comes from the acceptance of your own actions.

I am a recovering sex addict, who has been to 12-step meetings, and I've never heard of any support groups for wives. So, I doubt it.

I hope you'll consider counseling - it could help you sort through the feelings you're having.

Edit: Apparently, hornblendeDEas never been addicted to anything. She's lucky.

Edit for nonameblonde: She's divorcing him, so obviously, he's not getting away without consequences! He's not getting a free pass, considering that his wife is imposing upon him the most severe consequences possible, so I don't see how you think admitting his addiction is a "cop-out". Breaking through denial by admitting to the addiction is the first step toward recovery.

you go to a counselor, group therapy, prayer group and constant talk with your husband.

A support group to talk about what? The porn addiction or the posts to other women? A support group is just going to tell you both that "he needs counseling" and then they're done with him.

You need to talk to him. Tell him there is no room for this in your marriage and be sure to tell him how it makes you feel. Seems like you've tried to please him and it hasn't worked. Too many times we women re-make ourselves into what we think these men want and end up losing ourselves and our self-worth in the process.

You have a decision to make.
