I may need to get on ritalin for a couple years due to concentration issues in school. I am worried that once I get on it, coming off will produce long term problems. If anyone has gone through this, is this a legitimate concern?

I take Ritalin to treat ADD....its not psychologically addicting at all. However....take it just like the Doc tells you to.....Its only addicting when you ABUSE (i.e. crushing and snorting) it......However I must say Ritalin has done WONDERS for me....ALL of my ADD symptoms dissapered ON THE FIRST DOSE!!!!!

Ritalin is amphetamine basically.If it were me I would take Strattera.....the new ADHD med that is not a stimulant.All stimulants have a great potential for chemical dependency....even if it is just physical addiction

I was on Ritalin for 10 years and now Adderall for 2. It is not addictive at the prescribed levels. I take a week long drug-free break every year and have never had any ill effects.
