The Dr prescribed me percocet for pain after delivery and my husband picked up my perscribtions for me so I didn't realize it until I got home. The dr knew I am breastfeeding but i'm still nervous about taking it, how safe is that, does it pass through breastmilk?

You can take it while breastfeeding.It does not pass into your milk.I had a C and needed the Percocet and the doctor knew as well. They actually gave it to me in the hospital.

yes its fine. my doc prescribed it to me after my c-section and he knew I was BFing. as long as you only take it when you need it, the baby will be fine.

I am assuming your had a C/S? Most of the pain meds given to mom's for pain are ok but each baby reacts different to them. Some nothing at all while others will get sleepy. If you take the pain med watch how your baby reacts after feedings approximately 3 hours after taking the med. Take it as directed and if you don't need it or it is too strong I am sure your doctor told you other pain med options would be Tylenol or Motrin? Keep yourself hydrated and good luck. Call your babies pediatrician if you have concerns. That is what they are there fore. Good luck.
