Ive been taking 40mg hydrocodone (vicodin) per day plus 8mg dilaudid ive been on opiates for around about a year, My doctor says since I havent been on opiates for YEARS that I can go just cold turkey I told him I want off them and I begged for valium so I didnt get anxiety or insomnia but hes refusing to help me in anyway shape or form. Should I get a new doctor because to be honest I feel abandoned and alone I dont want the valium for recreational use just one weeks supply to get through detox. Any ideas or thoughts would be great.

i think your dr. is afraid to substitute 1 addicting drug with another. try a natural herb called valerian, available at health food stores. they are also effective but like anything should not be taken over a long period of time. st. johns wort is also effective. try these and see what happens. all the best

you might want to have a serious talk with your doctor before you make any decisions about anything if he still refuses you might want to see another doctor if they tell you the same then stick with what was said by them both
