Irritable Bowl Syndrome can be very painful, and the results of a dependency on opiates, of which fetanyl and morphine are members, can be very addicting. Here is what you probably do not want to hear: get to a pain management specialist, you may be a candidate for other medications, which are not as inclined to create a dependency, which you are obviously concerned about. You also might talk to your GI doc regarding the possibility of surgically removing the painful parts of the intestines, even though this would require you to have a'ostomy'bag, it might be preferable to the pain medications you are currently taking...good luck, find an MD who will listen to your concerns and treat you like a human being, not a chart name...good luck.
