My mother is addited to alchohol as is my late grandad and grandmother. Both my aunts drink each night and my uncle is a heavy binge drinker. i was addicted to heroin and crack cocaine though i have not taken either for over three years but am on a methadone programme. All of the above are heavy smokers

I'd see it as a selfish act, which then turns into a medical problem, albeit a self-inflicted one.
