How come alcohol iz legal but marijuana izn't? I don't drink or smoke but I kno plenty of people who do it all the time. Alcohol iz more dangerous than marijuana even though both can get u intoxicated. And why izn't their a rehab for marijuana, if u ask me aloooot of people would really beneit from something like that. Jus wonderin some more.
Marijuana is not legal due to the historical past of this country. After the govt removed Prohibition on alcohol, the govt found there was no longer a need for all those federal agents. So they decided to re-organize them into the ATF which is today in charge. Many people over the years have tried to get it legalized but so far it hasn't worked. It is strange that the govt taxes it and condones the use of alcohol, why, because many rich and famous people made their fortune in alcohol, like the Kennedy's'and others.
Excellent Question! It's because marijuana is more potent (as a drug) than alcohol is. It has more lasting effects on the person with lifetime adverse effects. Marijuana only takes a few amount to get effects but has a lot of damage to nerves, brain cells, organs, and tissues, while alcohol needs a bigger amount to get the same damages marijuana will in a single use. Marijuana also is much more addictive than alcohol with irreversible damages.Check these sites out for more info.
uhm im pretty sure u can go 2 a rehab center for marijuana. both can be bad if it honestly creates something really negative in a persons life. lots of ppl drink/smoke pot to cover up for other problems/issues they have. or they r just bored. it becomes addictions 4 many that affect relationships in negative ways, and also means of living. meaning...relationships with spouses, friends, children, and"means of living"i mean it can get in the way of working, living a stable content or decent lifestyle. some ppl drink their whole lives, and smoke pot randomly throughout their lives as well. im not saying its somethin everyone should do whenever they want, but some ppl kno when to do it and when not too, wats too much, and wats just enough. some ppl its part of their lifestyle.it should be balanced evenly in ur life. the highs of pot/alchol are cool, but when ur sober and living life as is, is that portion of ur life becoming shitty BECAUSE of the pot/alcohol? if not, than i think smoking and drinking is ok because u kno how to limit urself
As a recovering alcoholic and drug addict I can tell you that I probably know more about the short and long term effects of both. I agree with you 100%, pot is no where near as bad as alcohol. Out of all the drugs I have done (everything from pot to crack to heroine) the drug that gets you the most intoxicated is alcohol, by far! Furthermore, I never heard of someone wraping their car around a tree, missing work or beating up their wife because of a THC induced rage. In fact, when morphine first hit the market it was widely used to treat alcoholics for that reason, people were able to live non-violent and relatively productive lives. As for why it isn't leagle, I think the main reason is that it would open the doors for leaglazation of other drugs and this scares the public and politicians, it's burocracy what can I say. As for alchol being illeaglized, well we all know what happened the last time we tried that. As for rehab centers, I've been to three different rehab centers and they are usually for people that have hit rock bottom, where the only two alternatives to quiting in scientific terms is insanity or death. Pot addiction never gets to that level. Also rehab centers have restrictions as to who qualifies for treatment based on guidelines established by insurance companies and state funding. I'm sure they would let you in if you paid in cash up front but that's about it. The last place I was at there wasn't one person out of 150 patients that claimed pot addiction. FYI 80% heroine, 15% crack or Meth and 5% alcholics were patients. They weren't going to let me in because my daily usage (Methadone) was 3x higher than what they would treat. I did get in because my doctor pleaded with them.
i agree. i am an occasional drinker and an occasional marijuana user, and i definitely think drinking is more dangerous. for one thing, you can OD on it somewhat easily, whereas to OD on marijuana you would have to smoke one and half times your body weight (you'd pass out looooong before then)also, when you're drunk you don't normally feel lethargic, and it's likely that you might try to drive somewhere. when you smoke weed, all you want to do is sit on your ass and eat doritos.long term effects on your body are also a lot worse with alcohol, because even though weed still leaves tar in your lungs, cigarettes do the same thing, but they're legal
