Default Shortcut to enlightenment? - 12-29-2008, 01:14 AM

Right, I'm a clean addict who is caught in a bit of a crossroads here. The only time I've ever felt like there was something or someone spiritual that was caring for me is when I've had hallucinogenics. The texts and the sermons don't do anything for me, I've tried the whole lot (My bookshelf is proof) and I just don't get the feeling of being apart of something.I've had huge spiritual awakenings on Mushrooms, I've made huge life changes after a trip where I felt like everything and everyone is part of a big cosmic dance and that my actions were harming people around me. There were bad trips too, but I always learned something from them.Am I fueling my addiction with these thoughts or do chemicals like LSD and mushrooms have some spiritual merit?

There are no shortcuts to enlightenment. There is one route... one path for each person. You can't very well get it wrong. It is just a matter of how far you walk.

Dear friend,Stop looking for enlightenment."Enlivenment"should be your goal. You are here. You are alive. Live in the moment. Do something before you're dead.

There are a number of religions that use mind altering devises to reach enlightenment. The secret is taking what you learn from these experiences and put it into use in your everyday life to improve your life and those around you.

You're not alone. I'm not going to bash you about drugs and God but you should know there are a good amount of studies showing that people who had no spiritual beliefs and used hallucinogens often felt some sense of spiritual guidance. In my opinion I think the drugs are freeing you from inhibitions, and without judging or questioning you feel what is natural at the time.I'm sure most people would say it was merely a side effect of using drugs, which happen to be the same individuals who like to tell others they'd have to be exhausted or crazy to see a ghost. Pardon me, the negativity on here can get overwhelming.
