Default a question about LSD and mental health? - 12-24-2008, 05:42 PM

i have been reading about LSD potentially triggering mental illnesses people can have that they dont yet know they have. I have taken LSD three times, the first time it was relatively mild, the second time was a heavy trip that still felt like it was possible to have a heavier one, and the third one was somewhere in between the first two in terms of strength. These trips were spread out over about 18 months, the last time being about 6 months ago. I feel normal, i dont have any mental issues (i dont think so anyway lol).If i did have an underlying psychological problem that acid could kickstart, would it have already happened by now since i have taken it on three separate occasions with no effects so far?or should this be something I know not to be worried about now?as far as I am aware there is no history of mental illness in my family, going at least as far back as my grandparents on both sides of my family.some interesting answers, (apart from the'yep'one, haha). im asking because i know its a drug thats not to be taken lightly, its really powerful, and its best to know as much as i can about it, because i probably will take it again at some stage.im not sure i believe about the LSD killing millions of braincells thing though, ive never read that before (and ive read a fair bit). The dose of LSD is tiny, like millionths of a gram, so I cant see it killing MILLIONS of braincells. However, i could see that being true with ecstasy. A tab of LSD can't be worse than a few shots of vodka surely.to those people asking'why LSD', my answer is that it really is an astonishing experience, it's indescribable. but i have no doubt that it comes with risks, thats why I've only taken a few times. I felt like I had to try it at least once before I could ever make a comment about it.

I find myself wondering what you get out of doing a drug which you see as having such negative potential. You seem like some folks I know who fear death and then perform all kinds of death -defying stunts. Are you afraid you may have a mental illness? Talk to a carefully chosen confidante about your fascination with LSD.You are already hooked guy. You deny the consequences. You use a rationalization (can't comment if you didn'y use) which is a little crazy--because you can't talk about it? Good luck. I think you kidding yourself. You sound like Freud"s student who raised an umbrella INDOORS. When asked why he said"it is because it is raining OUTDOORS."

They've only recently found some of the genes involved in schiz so how the relates to family gene pool is still unknown. So, maybe still some small possibility. What is known is that LSD kills millions of brain cells. If you have to party, don't do it often! I know some fried ppl who did. Ecstacy is another one, only is can seriously screw up mood and anxiety later in life.TBH, as a middle age person living with the consequences of bipolar, I can't understand why anyone would want to screw with a healthy brain. Psychosis can be a terrible trip that leaves you with flashbacks for years (I mean you and LSD more so than me). Same with the mood trip of esctacy. I have to live with this good or bad. Really don't understand why anyone would choose to play with it given the potential immediate and long-term consequences.

LSD is a mind altering drug while lasting side effects. ive heard of cases where someone used LSD a few times then stopped and then years later, out of the blue, tripped out like they just took it. taking drugs is never a good idea but of all the drugs out there why this one? i enjoy smoking a joint from time to time. it alteres the mind but it wears off quickly, unlike LSD that can linger for hours or days.
