Default a question about LSD and mental problems? - 12-21-2008, 03:06 AM

hii have been reading about LSD being able to trigger mental illness/psychosis in users, and i have a couple of questions.1) i have taken acid on a few occasions before, the last time being about 8 months ago. i have no mental issues and generally am a happy person. if it was going to trigger any mental problem in me would it have happened by now?2) is it the chemical itself that triggers the mental problem, or is it the trip you experience that triggers it (like if you have a bad trip)?thanks.oh, i want to add a third question.3) are there any strong psychedelic drugs that come with zero or minimal risk of psychological damage?i wondered if DMT could be the answer to that question, since it is produced naturally within our bodies?

Its not a matter of when. It may not make you have any mental problems. It all depends on who uses it and the trips you get.A Really bad trip can trigger"flash backs". When you start getting immages of bad trips that you may have had before. The only good thing about LSD is that it is not Physically addictive, therefore it is not hard to quit, but it can alter your mental stability.

The reason LSD triggers mental illness is because it f*cks up your brain. It damages nerve connections and kills brain cells, among other things. The trip is how your brain reacts to the drug, this in itself wouldn't cause psychosis unless you had a trip like you were being raped (and you had been once before in"real"life), that might cause you to become depressed or have another type of mental illness sprung from that traumatic event. You're lucky that you've taken this drug and you're alright. Don't push your luck!

I am not certain if it is proven that LSD triggers mental illness or if it is coincidental to the time in a persons life when certain mental illness become patent as opposed to latent.I think part of this mythology or debate comes from two areas.1. Mental illness such as schizophrenia becomes full blown in late teens or early twenties. This coincides with a time when people experiment with drugs such as LSD.2. Many past experimental treatments for mental illness involved use of LSD. Psychologists themselves believed they could trigger and almost purge the same symptoms with use of LSD.This does not negate the true effects that all of these drugs have in wrecking many aspects of your health in general and mental of course. People are taking these drugs at a time in their life when their brains are not finished yet. The'this is your brain on drugs'commercials are real. From my own observation people on speed and crack appear to suffer more adverse affects than casual LSD use. And of course many people who have never use drugs at all develop psychotic illnesses.

Acid is a deep drug that can uncover what is truly going on in the human mind, it is not able to trigger anything... this is a misconception1) Acid can only uncover what is already happening or impending to happen neurologically. if you were born defective, and were going to have dementia, that hadn't surfaced yet, LSD can bring this defect into the open sooner than it would have occurred anyway.2) because of the above explanation, the answer to this question is neither. it is not the chemical that makes you brain defective (as it is a common myth that LSD can cause your brain to have holes in it) , nor is it the psychological baggage that causes this problem either... it is one's nature from birth, that causes the mental problem, and the LSD that uncovers it.LSD is relatively safe, it is hard to chemically overdose, and chemically, it is safer than accutane, asprin or vitamin c
