Default what are the symptoms of becoming dependant on loratabs? - 12-24-2008, 03:58 PM

i have been taking loratabs for two weeks now for wisdom teeth removal and a root canal and i dont want to take them anymore. i would rather motrin, but now, when i dont take the loratab (10) i get really figity and irritable. am i developing an addiction? how can i get over it? i dont want to take them and i think my body is getting use to them and i dont like that. it's not good.it's not that i need it, gotta have it, i just dont feel like myself now and im afraid that i MAY be in the starting stages of dependency. it's not that i want it like a cigarette, it's like i want it to make me not irritable or figity. you get it? but im not going to take it at all tomorrow and when i start gettin really figity, then i will take 1/2. is that right?

Stop and switch to Motrin... you can develop a dependence on them. Congratulations for recognizing it.

Call your doctor.Or take 1/2 a pill and then take it 1/2 as often and then throw the rest away.It takes longer than 2 weeks to be addicted. I think you are over thinking this.....You may just be crabby!

Most of the time a dependency is shown by a show of physical symptoms of the body suffering from a lack of the chemical, sometimes irritable and figity is among them. I have perscribed loratab and been perscribed in before for dental reasons. I suggest if you do not take them and you are not overcome by severe paid either stop taking them or decrease the dose. Cut the dose in half if need by until you are both no longer in pain and no longer on the meds. If you suspect you are becomign addicted you most likely are. Also Motrin is not a pain killer it is an anti-inflammatory that requires approximatly 4-5 days of taking it on schedule before it begins to work effectivly so if you are taking it for pain it will not work, you must take it as ordered consistantly or it will be no effect. Good luck and please be safe.Cpl RushUS Army Combat Medic
