I tried that for insomnia and I did not like it. It just made me groggy and blah feeling. But some it works for, so I would try it and if it makes you uncomfortable then stop and try something else. But it seems pretty safe yes.

Do you take it every night or just when needed? I really don't believe it is very habit forming or your doctor wouldn't have prescribed it for you.

It is addictive and does have some side effects....Your doctor must have other reasons for prescribing it other than just for sleep....Just for sleep there are a lot of other medications that are not as dangerous and dependent....Why don't you try Melatonin 6 mg. (you can buy it over the counter in the vitamin and herb department),.. It really works for me....

I was having panic attacks a few years ago and my doctor prescribed me the same thing. I was told to take one every time I started to have a panic attack and it made me feel like a zombie and very irritated with EVERYTHING right after I took it. I felt like I was going to sleep right at my desk about 3 minutes after I took one. But, it did stop my panic attacks. I stopped taking them though because I was usually having panic attacks at work, and I didn't want to be a zombie at work. But, if it's for sleeping, I can assure you that it will put you to sleep! Hope that answer helps a little bit.

Safe to take up to 4 mg, at higher doses you risk addiction.
