Default Help! one of my Best friends is an addict and he doesn't see it!? - 12-26-2008, 07:45 PM

We have just found out recently that a good friend of ours is taking Roxicet... A LOT! he is snorting them and taking them all of the time, on top of being prescribed Soma&klonopin. we have all tried to talk to him&he tries to convince us he doesnt have a problem. Anyone have any Ideas to help open his eyes before its too late? I dont want him to end up in jail or dead. please help! I am desperate!!!

You need to tell someone. Or confront him about it. He most likely would end up in rehab, not jail. Seriously, take the advice

Leave him be and find another outlet for your self-righteousness. If he really has a problem with it, he has to want help.

You have already tried to talk to him. You cannot change him. You can only change the way you react to him. So now is the time to back away. Spend less time with him, be busy when he calls, and when he asks why, tell him that you do not want to get sucked into what you perceive to be a dangerous addiction. Addicts take hostages. HE has to be the one to accept he has a problem, nobody can force him to see it. Forcing people into rehab is a waste of time and money...they have to lose everything first.

video tape while he's doing it. whne he stops, turn it off, but then when he starts again, turn it back on. then the next day when he's fine, show it to him. it will make him see how bad it is for you and he'll hopefully realize that he;s doing it way more then you should
