Okay, I just threw away the vicodin I've been taking because I'm afraid that I'm getting addicted. I took a total of 3 pills yester day at 8:00 am, then I took 3 more at 5:00 pm. I took another 3 this morning at 8:00 am. I'm worried that I overdosed on acetaminophen. I just flushed the pills down the toilet.Each pill contains 500 mg of acetaminopehn and 5 mg of hydrocodone. Will I be okay? Please serious answers only. I'm really worried. Please don't answer if you know absolutely nothing about acetaminophen and/or hydrocodone.

I've been taking Acetaminophen-based medications recently, and I strongly recoommend you find and read the leaflet (instructions) to the particular medication that you were taking. There is no need to second guess recommendations/dosage given my the drug manufacturer.

The maximum daily dosage to maintain healthy liver function is 4g (4000mg) of acetaminophen. You only took 3g yesterday and so far, you took 1.5g today. You are right to be more concerned about the acetaminophen you took rather than the hydrocodone. If your totals are accurate, though, you should not have anything to worry about. Throwing the Vicodin away is probably not necessary since I'm sure you only have a limited amount. If you are in pain still, take something ELSE rather than MORE of the medicine that is not working. You Will Be Okay, as Far as Becoming Addicted, In my Opinion, you Are Very Unlikely to Become Addicted, if the Vicodin is used to Control Pain Only, and Not Used to Get High.
