My mom has hep c, cirrhosis, and just started taking hydrocodone about 1 1/2 months ago. over the weekend she swelled up and is having pain in the area where her liver is (upper right abd.). she was diagnosed in the summer of 2003 and has had nothing but problems, and now she can barley breath, we see the liver doc in the morning, and I was wondering if her taking this drug could be making her desiese progress further faster? she gained 25 lbs in 2 days...WATER...lasex has stoped working...I am thinking she will be admitted?????? I need to know the right questions to ask, if there is anyone out there who can help me, Thank you in advance-Jessica

Yeah taking any drug can make it worse. When she comes home, have her look up a supplement called IP6. It has shown some promise and it isn't expensive.

Hydrocodone by itself, no...however almost all hydrocodone is mixed with Tylenol (Vicodin, Lortabs, etc. ) and Tylenol is very toxic to the liver if taken in sufficient / consistent amounts....so yes&no is your answer. If the doc can prescribe a narcotic without Tylenol like oxycontin ( oxycodone) or MS conton ( Morphine ) you can get pain relieve without Tylenol damage to your liver.Hope that made sense....have a blessed evening :-)

Well I know that taking acetaminophen(hydrocodone does have acetaminophen in it) in large doses over a lengthy period can contribute to liver damage, but only a doctor can give you a definitive answer. Hope this helps

yes it can worsen cirrhosis as it has other things it that are bad for the liver she should be taking oxy her liver is enlarged and yes it is hard to breath her lungs could fill with water and she could drown in her own water retention laxis works but it sound like she needs to be submitted right a way if she is throwing up and looks like coffee ground she is throwing up blood and could die from blood loss has she been drinking her thinking can become impaired take her to er right away I know I have the same thing but I also am a diabetic go now go now don't wait call the fire dept or ambulance

Moral dilemna!

Wazzup! Been just reading for a while and just decided to write!

So something has been bugging me for a while now . Here's what happened School was out and I was heading home, I hadn't eaten lunch so I took a detour to this fast food joint and picked this sandwitch from the menu and then went off to eat it in a corner when I was done I remembered I didn't pay!

Yeah evidently they were super busy and distracted because there was this manager/investor type looking around everywhere and talking to them. So I was just about to go up to the counter and say I hadn't paid but then I realized if I did that the owner guy might get mad at the employees. So I just left. What should I have done do you think?
