After you've been on any narcotic for two weeks or more, certain physiologic changes occur. You become HABITUATED.That's different from being dependent , which usually means a craving for the narcotic and withdrawal symptoms when you go without. Addiction means being dependent AND engaging in criminal or drug-seeking behavior. Now, that being said, you seem to indicate that you feel no cravings. That's good. That means that you can wean yourself off as rapidly as you desire. I would decrease the doses steadily over a week's time. Slow things down if you think that you're going too fast. There can be rebound pain that has nothing to do with your injury. That's just the body trying to reset it's pain-stat (like a thermostat.)
