By now through no fault of your own you are probably addicted to morphine and dilaudid as well. I you are still in thatt much pain it probably wouldnt be a good idea for you to withdraw from it.Morphine is highly addictive but it works so well for pain reduction that it is indeed a blessing.

If you are on slow release or sustained release morphine, liquid morphine should'top up'the break through pain you will feel after an Op. Good luck it is no fun being in constant pain.If you have any concerns @ all then speak to your doctor/s&nursing staff, they should be able to alleviate any issues. If the liquid morphine doesn't help, they will try something else for you, they don't give meds out without just cause. Doctors have taken the Hippocratic oath to help you so don't be worried about asking for pain relief or voicing your concerns. Liquid morphine is usually administered in another liquid (small amt of oj or cordial or soda). Take care of yourself&get well soon.

Are you on a liquid or the patch? I had the morphine patch after I had a hip replacement and they never really worked for me - well they knocked me out, so I guess if your asleep you can't feel pain. ;0) It all depends on how tolerant you are (or aren't) to pain medications.
