would you get the IV meds again? I have heard from my sister and many others that they hated the IV drugs. They said all it did was make them drowsy and nauseaus and they could still feel all the pain. Has anyone had a good experience with the IV meds?I am going to have an epidural because I have a really low pain tolerance but I am just curious why I have only heard bad things about the IV meds?

I had demerol and it just made me feel high and out of it I could feel the pain but not focus on it, very distracting. I got the epidural about 20 minutes after. The epidural helped with the pain and it allowed me to be concious and enjoy (as much as you can) the labor and delivery.

I had demerol in an IV when I was in labor and it worked great Dont let other peoples stories scare you. Everyone is different when it comes to labor. When you get to the hospital just tell the nurse right away that you have a low tolerance to pain and if you can have the epidural right away. Most nurses comply. Good Luck!
