Default How do you report a doctor and would you do it? - 12-27-2008, 02:28 AM

Some one please help....my husband is addicted to prescription vicodin, codeine and librium. He has this doctor (as do many other people in this small town) that will just write a script for anything that you want. I'm not saying he is the cause of my husbands addiction but he certainly does not help! My husband is capable of making his own choices. I think the main problem is that my heart is just broken. My husband needs help and just doesn't see a problem. My marriage is being torn apart, I hate watching my husband kill himself. So my thought is that if I can stop the prescriptions at the source maybe it will make a difference. This doctor is doing this to so many other families, there are 3 other people in my family alone who get a monthly supply (increasing dose) of vicodin off of him. Some one please give me advice I don't know where to turn!

I don't think it hurts to report the doctor. The doctor will back off especially with your husband. The less your husband sees others in the same position the more he will start thinking.I'm afraid the problem is only solved when he hits rock bottom. The closer he is there without danger, they more he will want to get help.I'm sorry... this situation is so damaging to everyone around him. He needs to care for himself first. How you do that, I don't know.

I think that there is such thing as personal accountability. Everyone is responsible for their own actions. If you would like you can report the doctor. Enough reports&he may be investigated. This is just my opinion. I am sorry for your situation.

You can definitely go to the cops and report him....my advice to you would be to get him fired, not just reported. What he's doing isn't right and shouldn't be a doctor.

I would be contacting the medical association (eg. AMA), and lodging a formal written complaint. He will be investigated and hopefully you will get results.

Call an attorney for free legal advice. Try some from the yellow pages for medical malpractice. What this doctor is doing is a crime. He should lose his license. He is abusing his position and these poor people are now addicts. Do something before any of your loved ones die...
