I'm no longer addicted to Effexor XR? -

Has anyone else stopped taking Effexor XR?My Dr lowered me to 37.5mg over a few months. I had been taking 150mg for about 6 years. He gave me Wellbutrin and Ativan to help with the withdrawal symptoms.Day 1 - I felt irratibleDay 2 - Head zaps/brain flashes/electrozaps started. I felt miserable.Day 3 - Headzaps were constant. I counted 1 zap every 10 seconds for the entire day. I was in bed all day.Day 4 - Headzaps continued. I felt like I was dying. Very irritable. Stayed in bed. Tried to drink lots of fluids.Day 5 - 50% reduction in headzaps from the previous day. I was starting to feel a bit better.Day 6 - Headzap fequency reduced by 50% from previous day.Day 7 - Headzap frequency lessened again. They weren't as strong as they used to be. It was tolerable. I went to the mall with a friend.The withdrawal was INTENSE! Once it left my system, I was fine. It felt like it was going to be impossible to discontinue this drug but it wasn't. I've been free for 5 monthsI only stayed on the Wellbutrin for a week or two while I had withdrawal symptoms. I was instructed to keep taking it but I didn't want to replace once addiction with another.I still have some anxiety issues and I will take an Ativan when needed. This works for me but everyone is different.
