I went to the doctor today for panic attacks. I have GAD. i have tried zoloft, paxil, prozac, and doxepin in the past with no effects. only thing that has worked do far is valium and ativan. i dont want to get addicted though. medication scares me. LOL guess it is part of the GAD. anywho just wondering if anyone is/has taken effexor and what side effects and benefits they have had. i no we are all different just curious though.the dosage is 37.5 for 7 days then 75 mg there after. as for the moron comit. i did ask the doctors they only tell you so much as well as the medicatin pamplet. read the qst moron. i asked for personal expeirences not facts.

Depends what amount the Dr. prescribed. At lower levels it only effects one neurotransmitter and at higher levels effects two. My doc saw I needed more and adjusted accordingly. I hated paxil. prozac, and zoloft but effexor worked wonders. Only side effect was loss of appetite...but that was good for me.

effexor is brilliant...alll the good bits of Prozac with none of the bad......(in my experience, and believe me there's A LOT).however, no-one can really tell you what to expect based on their own experiences, everyone, it seems reacts differently to everything.i rememeber it improved my sleeping pattern, and i wasn't as spaced out as on the other ones.no addiction, really easy to come off (when ready). when you decide to stop you may get'head-shocks'for a couple of weeks, and / or night sweats. but really that's the worst of it.....ignore the moron....some people just have their heads stuck up their own......

I am just starting Effexor. It is day number 2 and I feel high. It makes me feel completely numb and touch quite in touch with reality. It almost seems like I'm on some kind of narcotic. Weird. I'm taking 75 mg. Does anyone know if this is temporary or what? I heard it was but it's just pretty intense.

Help anyone?
