They did a brain scan on me, it was off the charts. ALCOHOLISM all the way.
Why do some idiots deny the obvious fact that ALCOHOLISM is a BRAIN DISEASE that you INHERIT from your family? I'm Irish, I know I inhere ted this BRAIN DISEASE from a lone line of drunks on the Emrald Isle. How is alcoholism any different from cancer, or tuberculosis, or AIDS???

alcoholism is a BEHAVIOR disorder. and a physical and mental addiction. Yes it is a disease but ultimately it is a choice. you can CHOOSE not to drink alcohol. cancer is not a choice.

My family has that problem too.

half of them are tea tattlers and the others are raging drunks.

I have been able to drink when I want to without getting into any trouble. BUT I love the stuff and if I were RICH and had a staff to do things for me I WOULD STAY DRUNK.

denial: have to work, could be predetermined condition, now that it's documented in your records. social reasons, embarrassment and usually people think they can be the only ones to control it. Many hide it. Binge drinkers, Antabuse is still avail, other melds. don't let this happen to you, break the cycle!

Alcoholism is not a genetic disorder that you get from either parents. It may be that people with alcoholic parents may be more prone to becoming alcoholics themselves but that is behavioral and not biological.

Some cancers are indeed hereditary, but TB and AIDS are infections that are not hereditary and in most cases the fetus can be protected against contracting either virus if the mother has it with medication.

Alcoholism is a a disease, but in the same way as drug addiction, it is a medical condition that needs to be treated but is caused by the a persons mental judgment.

Oh and I find the insinuation of Irish people being a race of drunkards as deeply offensive, especially considering our quality of life is much higher than that in the US.
